India supplying arms, money to secessionists : Action against miscreants at Zanjira

Following the open support announced by the India Parliament for secessionist elements in East Pakistan, Indian authorities are reported to have taken measures to supply these secessionist elements with arms, ammunition and other goods.

According to reports from across the border the so-called relief-camps, claimed by India to have been set up for refugees crossing into India, are, actually, being used as supply bases.

Quantities of arms and ammunition have been stored in these camps which have been across the Sylhet border. These reports also say that vehicles of the Indian Border Security Forces are being reported as civilian vehicles for use by the infiltrators.

Indian local authorities in the border areas adjoining Sylhet are also reported to have been issued large amounts of money with which to aid secessionist elements. Supplies of arms, ammunition and money are particularly heavy in border areas with large Hindu populations. These include Brahmonbaria, Thakurgaon, Sunamganj and Chuadanga.

Miscreants in certain areas of East Pakistan have been trying to harass and terrorize innocent and peaceful citizens. Action was taken against one such pocket of miscreants who had assembled at Zanjira, south of the river Buriganga, and were preventing peaceful citizens from returning to their normal activities. The area was cleared of the miscreants, a number of whom have been rounded up.

People warned

The ML authorities are taking similar action against miscreants elsewhere in the province. The authorities have warned the people to refuse shelter to such elements and to immediately report their presence to the nearest ML authorities.

Indian  Parliament supports secessionists in East Pakistan

Rawalpindi April 2: All India Radio monitored in Rawalpindi reported that both Houses of Indian Parliament on Wednesday unanimously adopted a resolution expressing solidarity with the people of East Bengal and assured them that their struggle will receive whole-hearted support of the people of India.

The resolution which was moved in the two Houses by the prime minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi was whole-heartedly supported by members with repeated and loud applause.

Moving the resolution, Mrs. Indira Gandhi said, "The tragedy which has overtaken our valiant neighbours in East Bengal so soon, after their rejoicing over their electoral victory, has united us in grief for their suffering."

There was no discussion on the resolution which had been approved by the opposition leaders at their meeting with Mrs. Gandhi on Tuesday.

Meanwhile in Simla the Himanchal Vidhan Sabha expressed its "solidarity, sympathy and support with the heroic people of Bangladesh."
