Islamabad, May 17(APP) : The Pakistan Government today said the deliberate attempt by the Indian authorities to deny Pakistani Deputy High Commissioner in Calcutta, Mr. Mehdi Masud, to meet all the Pakistani personnel separately and to ascertain their wishes independently confirmed its fears expressed earlier that the concerned personnel were being held in Calcutta against their wishes.
The Foreign Office rejected an Indian proposal today that the Swiss representative should visit Dacca to ascertain the difficulties faced by the personnel of the Indian mission there and to resolve these in consultation with the local authorities.
The foreign office told the Indian High Commissioner the Islamabad who convened the
proposal that it had no relevance to the question of fulfilment of India's assurance
to provide necessary facilities to Mr. Masud. The Indian High Commissioner was also
told that instead of evoding the solution of the problem which would cause further
delay in the simultaneous evacuation of the personnel from Calcutta and Dacca. The

Karachi, May 17 (APP) : Maulvi Farid Ahmed, president, Pakistan peace and welfare council, today demanded a public trial of the outlawed A Leaguers and their collaborators including those from West Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference here at a local hotel, he said, this was necessary in the interests of justice and the survival of Pakistan's integrity and solidarity.
Maulvi Farid Ahmed said that the recent events in East Pakistan had proved beyond doubt that the members of the outlawed Awami League in a bid to undo Pakistan had entered into a conspiracy with Indian leaders as far back as July 1947.
He referred in this connection to a speech made by Sheikh Mujib in Sirajuddaula Hotel
at Calcutta intended to change the Islamic pattern of the Bengali language into Sanskrit
and a confrontation with late Quaid-
He said that sanskritised connotations in the original Bengali language as adopted by the Bangla Academy had been imported from Calcutta.
Outlining various moves made by the banned Awami League to undo Pakistan he referred to a manifesto published by the people's liberation league formed soon after the creation of Pakistan which without mentioning anything about West Pakistan contained a demand about the recognition of Bengali as one of the state languages of Pakistan.
He said it was the duty of every Pakistani to ensure that elements as were against the oneness of Pakistan were exterminated.
He said that the people of this wing of the country could be a significant role for the achievement of this objective.
He appealed to West Pakistan to contribute their efforts towards regaining the confidence of brotherhood as envisaged by Islam among the people of East Pakistan. In this connection he said it was necessary that the economic activity in East Pakistan was restored to the full.

He condemned the false and malicious propaganda launched by India against Pakistan and said that the Indian Radio in utter disregard of the international accepted principles and ethics had gone to the extent of having broadcast the naked lie about his death and that of Lt. General, Tikka Khan, Governor of East Pakistan.
He also took an exception to the highly exaggerated and fake stories being carried in a section of foreign press on the situation in East Pakistan.
Maulvi Farid Ahmed said that as there had been no change in the hostile and inimical attitude of India towards Pakistan, it was necessary that every man, woman, young call of jehad so that they remained alert and vigilant for all times to come to safeguard, the territorial integrity of the country in the event of Indian hostility.
He said that the banned Awami League had been successful in the general elections due to grave election malpractices and the support of the Hindu electorates. He said that 45 per cent of the Hindu population having evil designs against Pakistan had voted for the banned Awami League.

He made it clear that he had called on Lt. General Tikka Khan, Governor of East Pakistan, and discussed with him the matters relating to the restoration of normalcy in East Pakistan on the pressure put on him by his people and supporters.

The meeting after a free and frank exchange of views passed the following resolution and authorised the president of the meeting Major General (Retd.) Umrao Khan to convey the same to the relevant authorities for information and needful:

by the armed forces in saving the country from a major crisis engineered through

state activities of the outlawed AL and while urging upon the Govt. to take firmest possible action against the traitors of Pakistan resolves that with a view to assisting the armed forces in their great task deep and abiding unity should be fostered among the Islamic forces in East Pakistan and every sincere and determined effort should be made by the patriotic people for weeding of the miscreants wherever they might be and for restoring complete normalcy in the province so necessary for the existence of Pakistan as a great nation. - This meeting suggests that with a view to broadening the sphere of its activities the name of the peace committee should be changed to "peace and integration committee" and that its objectives should now be more wide more clear and more embracing. The meeting ventures to make this suggestion as it honestly feels that a more peace committee cannot achieved the desired and which is in the present condition, to instal greater sense of confidence among the people about their ultimate destiny as Pakistan.

support from all sections of people following persons should be co-
opted as members of the working committee of the central peace committee besides, Diwan Werasat Husain Khan; who is reported to have already been taken in the said committee:-
