Karachi, Aug 29, (APP): Pakistan has informed the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees, prince Sadruddin, of the latest measures taken by the Government to further facilitate the return of East Pakistani displaced persons.
This was stated here today by Mr. Sultan Mohammad Khan, the Foreign Secretary, who met the UN High Commissioner for refugees in Geneva last week.

The Foreign Secretary said that he informed the UN High Commissioner for Refugees that Pakistan Government on its part had taken numerous steps for the return and rehabilitation of displaced persons. He assumed prince Sadruddin that the Government would continue to take measures that will help in the return of displaced person to their homes.

He said that prince Sadruddins's representative in East Pakistan, Mr. Kelley, had already visited many place along the borders in East Pakistan and had now made some assessment of the supporting staff. This assessment, he added, was discussed in his meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner.
Mr. Khan said that he will meet Mr. Kelly in Islamabad in a few day's to discuss the needs in details.
Swiss Govt. Thanked
Reffering to his meeting with the Swiss Foreign Minister during his stay abroad. Mr. Sultan Mohammad Khan said that he thanked him for the constructive role played by the Swiss Government in arranging the repatriation of the personnel of Pakistan's Deputy High Commission in Calcutta.

Asked about his visit to Iran Mr. Khan said that he discussed matters of mutual interest to Pakistan and Iran. He said there was a continuous process of Pakistan and Iran. Such discussions, he added further strengthen the already friendly and brotherly ties between the two countries.
In reply to a question he said that he had already conveyed to the president the reply of Shahin Shah of Iran to the message sent to the Iranian Monarch by the Pakistani Head of State. Asked about the summit meeting of the RCD Head of state the Foreign Secretary said that a date would be finalised after consultations among the three countries.
Envoys Meeting
Referring to the Pakistani envoys' regional meeting at Teheran and Geneva the Foreign Secretary said that the object of these meetings was to "exchange views."
He said the Tehran Meeting was the Middle East and East Africa and the one held in Geneva by the heads of Pakistani missions based in Europe, America and West Africa.
Pakistan's heads of missions in New Delhi and Peking also attended the Geneva meeting the Foreign Secretary said,
The Foreign Secretary said that two regional meetings had helped the envoys in acquiring more balanced view of the situation in the country, hoped that it will lead to better projection of Pakistan abroad.
"All those who took part in the meetings were unanimous that these meetings were timely and useful." Mr. S.M. Khan said, he added "one hopes we can arrange such meeting more regularly in future."
Defection of Abdul Fatah
Asked if the Government proposed to initiate extradition proceedings against Mr. Abdul Fatah, formerly Pakistani Ambassador in Iraq who has defected to United kingdom the foreign secretary said We have taken some measures in this case.."
He said that the legal and other aspects would be examination return to Islamabad. The foreign secretary said that Mr. Fatah had embezelled funds of the Embassy, "His defection is motivated by financial reasons rather than political." he added.
Replying to a question he said that the dates for his impending visit to Moscow will be finalised on his return to Islamabad.

Maulana Abdur Rahim said that for keeping Pakistan intact and maintain its integrity there was the imperative need of reviving the spirit of Muslim nationalism with which Pakistan had been achieved.
Effective and practical steps he added were needed to achieve this objective. He said that East and West wing should be made equal to each other in practical way, that he observed, will help in reviving the real national unity and the much needed Muslim nationalism.
Regarding referendum on the constitution, he however, said that the country should have constitution with sound foundations.
He said that there were overwhelming majority of patriotic and peace loving people in East Pakistan. They need protection only.
Maulana Rahim also addressed a Jamaat workers meeting and a Jumma congregation at Jama Mosque, Bunder Road, Sukkur.
Rawalpindi, Aug. 29 (APP): Professor Atiquzzaman Khan, Head of the Department of Journalism, University of Dacca yesterday advocated imparting the younger generation with all sincerity and devotion for the greater glory of Pakistan.
Speaking on "the concept of Pakistan" at the Pakistan Council here, Mr. Atiquzzaman said that the need acquainting the younger generation with the ideology of Pakistan, was today greater in view of internal and external threats to Pakistan.

Prof. Zaman tracing the history of the plight of the Muslims of Bengal under 'Hindu hegemony" since 1888 said that the Muslims of Bengal had played a very vital role in culmination of Pakistan movement and and added that after the present crisis their belief in the destiny of one Pakistan had become farmer.
Citing an example, he said "during the entire period of election campaigning, seven and a half crore people of East Pakistan stood for one Pakistan except for the few Munafik."
He urged the people not to be beguiled with "India oriented propaganda" that Bengalis stand for the division of Pakistan.
Tributes to Armed Forces
He paid tributes to the Armed Forces for their timely action against the miscreants and Indian agents, who were out to destroy the national fabric at the instance of foreign agents.
The recent strife in East Pakistan, he said, was indeed 'a battle between Haq and Batil he said.
Haq ultimately triumphed and the entire population is today supporting the action taken by president Yahya Khan to save the country from "Chankeya and Hindu machinations."
He urged upon the politicians, writers teachers and intelligentsia to play their part at this great ordeal adding "ideal is greater than individuals and nation is greater than ideals."
Prof. Atiquzzaman Khan regretted that during the last 24 years people suffered from the crisis of conscience 'and proper mooring on the ideology of Pakistan."
He urged the Ministry of Education to float national library in both wings of the country to enlighten the people on the values of Pakistan ideology.
He also urged the Pakistan embassies to project Pakistan ideology on foreign countries in its true perspective.
This, he said, was all the ore necessary as the Western press particularly the British had been spreading all sorts of lies against Pakistan which he described as "enchanting nothingness."
He was particularly critical of the Journalists who interviewed the president on the international Television network.
While asking questions he said they used the words" you Mr. president were accused of doing this or that and so on."
By using the Word accused Mr. Zaman said, the foreign journalists had shown no respect to journalistic decorum.
He asked the Foreign office to lodge a strong protest against their behaviour.
He said that different regions and languages of Pakistan were in a way a great source of its strength as Pakistan's solidarity lay in diversity." Pakistan, he said will remain united till doomsday.
Peshawar, Aug 29, (APP): Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan, President of his faction of the Pakistan Muslim League said here last night that Pakistan was destined to defeat and destroy, the expansionist ideas of Brahmin imperialism.
Speaking at a dinner, held by the Peshawar Rotary Club, to celebrate the independence anniversary, Khan Qayyum said the Indian warlords were dreaming of dominating South Asia, in this part of the world but they would never succeed in them. The recent upheaval in East Pakistan was part of the India's expansionist designs which he said has already been foiled by the valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan.
Pakistan was not to be intimidated by the numerical strength of India Army and its military hardware, he said reminding his audience of ratio of strength in 1965, when the people of Pakistan had frustrated India's evil designs to destroy this country.
Khan Qayyum took strong exception to India's support to the defunct Awami League's six point programme and consequent practical backing of secessionist" movement in East Pakistan and said that if Indira Gandhi lent support to the demand for autonomy on the basis of six points for East Pakistan, why did not she allow similar autonomy to various provinces in India, which were struggling for it,
Khan Qayyum said that Pakistan was born in 1947 to stand as shield against the expansionist designs of Brahmin imperialism.
He was confident that Pakistan would emerge stronger from the present crisis. He had no doubt in his mind that Pakistan shall live as a strong and self respecting nation, Khan Qayyum said.
Reffering to international scene vis a vis Pakistan, Khan Qayyum said that atmosphere was now taking a change for the better and expressed pleasure in bringing China and US nearer.
The Qayyum group chief lauded the support given by the people's republic of China to Pakistan in her difficult times and said China was dependable and sincere friend of Pakistan.

About Soviet Union, Khan Qayyum said that Pakistan would never allow any country to interfere in her internal affairs. The events in East Pakistan were our internal affairs, he said.
Turning to the internal situation Khan Qayyum said he was confident that if Agartala conspiracy case would not have been withdrawn the country would not have faced the present crisis.
He reminded his audience that it was Sheikh Mujib who had urged the then Governor
of East Pakistan, Mr. Abdul Momen Khan, to declare independence during the Indo-
Khan Qayyum reiterated his view that the national Assembly had lost its efficacy and therefore, called for fresh elections on the basis of the separate electorate system. If integrity of Pakistan was to be secured Pakistan would have to dispense with the joint electorate system, he observed.
He also emphasized that the constitution of Pakistan must ensure strong centre and quoted the instance of various countries in the world which had strong centres. Without strong centre, he felt the Government would not have even dealt with the armed rebellion in East Pakistan, he said.
Khan Qayyum also stressed the territorial and ideological frontiers of Pakistan must be defended vigorously and nothing contrary to the ideology should be allowed to be propagated in the country. He also called for subordination of regional and provincial loyalties towards Pakistan as a whole.
He said that it was easy to secure independence, but it was difficult to safeguard it. Pakistan was not the only country, which has faced the trials and tribulations in safeguarding her independence and sovereignty. So many other countries had to go through such a process, he said.
