People far ahead of political parties, says Bhashani

Chittagong, March 20 (APP) : Maulana Bhashani, said here yesterday that people were far ahead of all political parties in respect of their political outlook and sense of dedication for their cause. He asked all the political parties to follow the people and try to project their hopes and aspirations.

Mujib-Yahya talks will be fruitful, hopes Maulana Ansari

Lahore, March 20 (PPI): Maulana Zafar Ahmed Ansari, independent MNA-elect, expressed the confidence that the Dacca parley between the Head of state and the majority party leader in the National Assembly will be fruitful.

Analysing the situation obtaining in the country and the various factors which led to the present political crisis Maulana Zafar Ahmed Ansari said all parties were now agreed on the question of the transfer of power before the framing of the constitution. This change of posture was the product of changed circumstances, he observed.

Yahya urged to accept 4-point demand of Mujib

Bhairab, March 20: In a largely attended meeting held at Bhairab Tin Path recently, Mr. Zillur Rahman MNA-elect, urged the president to immediately accept . The four point demand of Awami League chief Sheikh Mujib and hand over power to the elected representatives of the majority party in the interest of Pakistan's solidarity.

He appealed to the people to forget all the differences of caste and creed to have the common faith that all of them are Bengalees.

Ata urges Mujib to form national government

Khulna, March 20 (APP) : Mr. Ataur Rahman Khan, chief of Bangla National League, today reiterated his stand for sovereign Bengal and urged the leader of the majority party Sheikh Mujib to form a national Govt.

Mr. Khan addressing a huge public meeting recently at local Shaheed Hadis Park further said that 75 million people of Bengal wanted sovereign Bengal and there was no point of any compromise at this stage with the leaders of West Pakistan to work out viable constitutional and political solution.

Mr. Ataur Rahman warned that people were ready to go to any length for the fulfillment of the cherished goal. Mr. Ataur Rahman also urged upon president Yahya to accept the demand of seven and a half crore people of Bengal for a sovereign Bengal so that the people of Bengal could guide their own destiny.

Non-co-operation Movement going on peacefully

The non-violent, non-co-operation movement launched by Sheikh Mujib following the postponement of the National Assembly on March 1, passed its 20th day yesterday throughout Bangladesh.

People throughout Bangladesh held meetings rallies, processions and demonstrations, renewed their pledge to continue the movement under the leadership of the Bangabandhu for the realisation of their rights.

Black flags continue to flutter atop all buildings; meetings and rallies were held to express support and solidarity with the people's movement. According to the directive of the Awami League chief; all government and semi-government institutions continue to remain closed; schools, colleges and other educational institutions were also closed. A large number of processions were also brought out.

A press release of the Swadhin Bangla Desh Sramik Sangram Parishad of Jatiya Sramik League in a press release called for observance to boycott week of West Pakistan products from March 23.

Bhutto due in city today

Karachi, March 20, (APP) : Mr. Bhutto said here today that he proposed to leave for Dacca tomorrow on fresh invitation from president Yahya Khan.

Addressing a hurriedly summoned press conference here today, Mr. Bhutto said that clarification he had sought on president Yahya's invitation of March16 had been received to my satisfaction.

The APP chief said, " Late last night I received another invitation from Yahya inviting me to come to Dacca immediately. He said , "I propose to leave for Dacca as soon as possible. I am trying to get there by tomorrow."

The PPP chief said that he was conscious of the fact that time is the essence in the present political crisis. "I will spare no effort to leave for Dacca," he added.

SBKCSP leaders condemn firing at Joydevpur

Four leaders of Swadhin Bangladesh Kendria Chhatra Sangram Parishad in a joint press statement issued in Dacca yesterday condemned the firing on the unarmed civilians of Joydevpur by army personnel on Friday.

The SBKCSP leaders paid tributes to the people of Joydevpur for bravely facing the troops.

The student leaders prayed for the salvation of the souls of those killed and expressed thier sympathy for the family members of the deceased.

The signatories to the statement are messrs Nur-e-Alam Siddiki, Shahjahan Seraj, A.S.M. Abdur Rab and Abdul Kuddus Makhan.

Carry forward movement in a peaceful manner : Mujib

Sheikh Mujib yesterday appealed to the people of Bangladesh to carry forward their movement in a peaceful and disciplined manner and said, "our movement must continue till the goal of emancipation is realised."

In a statement issued to the press, the Bangabandhu issued a stern warning to the saboteours against mischievous provocations." Our people must observe rigorous discipline in every sphere of economic activity, so that the essential needs of the people can continue to be met".

Sheikh Mujib declared March 23 a holiday and said that the day "shall be observed as a holiday throughout Bangladesh." He said that "the programme of action announced on March 14 shall continue, subject to all directives and clarifications which have been issued and which may be issued from time to time."
