Heavy casualties inflicted.

2 Companies of' regular Indian soldiers checked two companies of Indian regular troops, supported by armour and artillery yesterday attacked Pakistan positions south of Comilla but they were successfully checked reports APP.

The aggressors suffered heavy casualties. One Pakistani soldier was killed and two others wounded. Further details of the attack and enemy losses are still awaited.

Reports from other border areas show that Indian agents continue prodding Pakistan positions to find vulnerable points to achieve infiltration but every time they are beaten back with heavy casualties. One such attempt was made today near Jatiapur, north of Sylhet and the other near lalgarh, South of Comilla. The

intruders were supported by Indian artillery during the prodding attacks. They suffered 18 dead at Jatiapur and 23 near Lalgarh.

In a similar attempt near panihata in Mymensingh district, they suffered 16 dead. Three Pakistani soldiers were wounded in these encounters.

Four Varsity professors get 14 yrs. R. I.

Four University professors were convicted and each sentenced to under go 14 years rigorous imprisonment by special Military Court Dacca. according to a press release issued here yesterday reports APP.

 Fifty percent of their properties have also been ordered to he constricted. The professors were tried in absentia. They were asked to appear before the court of the SMLA, sector -6 Dacca, on September 8 to answer charges under MLR 25.

Bhutto meets President.

Rawalpindi, Nov. 9(APP) :The Chairman of the Pakistan People's Party, Mr_ "I_. A. Bhutto, had a meeting with President General A. M. Yahya Khan today­

Sadruddin meets Yahya.

Rawalpindi, Nov. 9 (APP) : Prince Sadruddin. United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, had a meeting with the President, General A. M. Yahya Khan, at the President's House here this morning.

The meeting lasted over one hour. Earlier the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Prince Sadruddin, arrived here this morning for a three-days stay in Pakistan.

He was received at the Islamabad Airport by Mr. Tayyab Husain, Advisor to the President and officials of the Foreign Office.

During his stay here he will also call on Foreign Secretary. Mr. Sultan Mohammad Khan. He will leave Teheran on November 12.

During his stay in India, he will met Sardar Swaran Singh. Indian Foreign Minister and other Indian officials besides visiting camps of' displaced persons in West Bengal. He presented a cheque for 1.75 million dollars to Mr. Swaran Singh for the Purchase of clothing for refugees.

Nizam-e-Islam and Pakistan council six each and remaining five seats has gone to the Pakistan people's party.

Among the party chiefs who have been declared unopposed elected so far are prof. Gulam Azam of Jamaat-e-Islami, Khwaja Khairuddin of the council Muslim league and Khan A. Sabur Khan of the Qayyum Muslim league.

The polling will be held in December.

Nominations invited for by-elections .

Islamabad, Nov. 9 : In pursuance of the provisions of sections 11 of the National and Provincial Assemblies (Elections) Ordinance, 1970 (XIIII of 1970) read with section 96 of that Ordinance and Article 7 of the legal Framework Order. 1970 (P. O. No-2 of 1970), the chief Election commissioner hereby calls upon a fresh the elections of constituency No. PE-76 Kushtia-VI of the Provincial Assembly of East Pakistan to elect a member to fill the seat for that constituency to which by-election could not be held vide notification No. F.14(3)/71-Els. II, dated 21-9-1971 due to withdrawal of all the validly nominated candidates from that constituency according to a notification issued here on Nov. 6 by the election Commission of Pakistan.

12 more elected to PA (Staff reporter)

With the election of 12 more candidates to the East Pakistan Assembly yesterday in the by-election the number of candidates elected uncontested rose to 108, according to the information received in the regional refection Commission Office in Dacca. The Election Commission has not received any report about withdrawal from 50 out of 88 in the second phase of the by-elections.

In the first phase (so far 70 candidates out of 105 seats far which elections are being held have declared provisionally elected to the East Pakistan Assembly.

One of the provisionally elected candidates were killed by miscreants in Narayanganj on Sunday last. The Election Commission will announce fresh programme of Election in this constituency soon.

Turkish Foreign Minister visiting Pakistan.

Islamabad, Nov. 9 : The Foreign Minister of the Republic of' Turkey. his Excellency Mr. Oman Olcay, will pay on Official visit to Pakistan, from November 28.

The visit will be in return for the Official visit to Turkey in July 1968 by the former foreign Minister of Pakistan, Mian Arshad Hussain.
