Food position in East Pakistan continues to be satisfactory. The Provincial Government
is likely to close the year with carry-
Due to disturbed conditions in East Pakistan, certain vessels stranded in East Pakistan ports and on the high seas carrying foodgrains for East Pakistan had been diverted to Karachi and other port in April 1971.
The quantities of rice and wheat so diverted were 40,500 tons and 123,500 tons respectively. As conditions have since returned to normal 7,000 tons of rice and 31,400 tons of 'whet, out of the diverted stocks have already been shipped back to East Pakistan. Arrangements are also in hand for shipment of the remaining diverted stocks of wheat and rice during Jute and July 1971.
A quantity of 16,396 tons of rice arrived in East Pakistan From Japan and West Pakistan during the first ten days of June. Of this quantity 10,437 tons of rice came from Japan, says a handout of East Pakistan Government issued in Dacca yesterday.

Following is the text of the notification dated 8 June, 1J71.
1. "In exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Chief Martial Law Administrator Order No 19. 1 Lieutenant General Tikka Khan, do hereby further authorise all DSMLAs within lone 'B' area, to exercise the powers of a police officer or a Magistrate of the First Class under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (Act V of 1898) including the arrest, remand, detention in custody and committal lo civil prison of any person and investigation of 'offences.

The Chairman of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Mr. Z.A. Bhutto on the second day of his visit to the provincial capital yesterday met a large number of party workers from various places in the province and discussed with them the party matters.
The workers calling on him hailed from Lyallpur, Sargoclha Mianwali: Jhang; Multan; Rawalpindi, Gujrat. Sialkot and Multan.

Heavy concentrations of the Indian Army along the other side of Pakistan border is posing a threat to Pakistani nationals there, it is learnt from loyal citizens of this town who went across the border during last turmoil created here by Indian intruders and came back here recently.
