One hundred and sixty one more deserters, including officers and other ranks, of the East Bengal Regiment and East Pakistan Rifles have surrendered themselves in Dacca, Jessore and Bogra sectors, reports APP.
This is in response to the military authorities offer to the military authorities offer to the deserters to surrender without their weapons. Till the first week of the current month 2,000 deserters, including 26 officers and large number of Junior commissioned officers, had given themselves up in various parts of the province.
General Abdul Hamid Khan, Chief of Staff Pakistan Army yesterday visited troops in Brahmanbaria and Feni areas along the eastern borders reports APP.
The Chief of Stuff was accompanied by commanders Eastern command and the GOC.
The local commanders, Briefing the Army Chief of staff at their respective headquarters, told him that the troops had closed up to the border in their respective areas minimising chances of Indian infiltration and food smuggling across the border consequently the food situation, they added, had further improved in the border areas.

They sought to disrupt our means of communications but they were detected in time and eleminated. Considerable quantities of arms, ammunition and explosives were captured from them.
General Hamid travelling by army helicopter, also flew to Manatala in Brahmanbaria area and Bakhsh Hat in Feni area. At every place, he meet the troops, talked to them freely and enquired about their welfare. The troops were cheerful and in high spirits.

Mr. Alexi Kosygin, the Soviet Prime Minister yesterday received in the Kremlin the Ambassador of' Pakistan. Mr. J.K.A. Marker and had conversation with him in a friendly atmosphere, it was reported here.
Aid to Pakistan Consortium Countries threat of stopping aid to Pakistan till a political solution to the country's crises was found was strongly condemned here on Tuesday evening by the chief of the Pakistan people's Party, Mr. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Such "external pressures" if not checked, will further increase and tomorrow these foreign powers would e giving threats that unless such and such person was not brought in power in Pakistan, aid would be stopped. The four member British Parliamentary delegation met Mr. M.M. Ahmad, Economic Adviser to the president, here today.
During the meeting, Mr. Ahmad explained at length the current economic situation in the country and the efforts being made by the Government to improve the functioning of the economy, in particular, in East Pakistan.
Mr. Ahmad also discussed with the British MPs the arrangements being made by the Government to ensure speedy and regular food distribution throughout East Pakistan.
Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan, President of Pakistan Muslim League yesterday urged the people close their ranks and work unitedly and spiritedly for defending the ideological and geographical frontiers of Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference yesterday at a local hotel in Dacca, Mr. Zaman congratulated the president of Pakistan and Governor of East Pakistan for their magnanimity and generousity in granting amnesty to the misguided members of police, EPR, EBR, students, political workers and leaders.

Awami League, he said in a prepare statement, during the whole election campaign never advocated for creating an independent "Bangla Desh" outside Pakistan. The people would not have voted for Awami League at all, if they were given any hints of the Indo Awami League conspiracy of undoing Pakistan. Mr. S.B. Zaman said that our people had seen the Hindu oppression on Muslims in undivided India. "The Muslims of India know what Hindu Raj means to them. They can never agree to undo Pakistan in order to be dominated by Hindus again."
Turkey has sent a plane load relief supplies including blankets, clothing and medicines for East Pakistan, officials said here today.
