Jeddah confce express full support to Pakistan

Jeddah (APP)

The 22 nation Jeddah conference has expressed full support to sisterly Pakistan unity and territorial integrity.

A joint comuniqe issued by the conference at the conclusion of its three-day deliberations condemned any interference.

The conference was attended by 22 countries including Pakistan whose delegation was led by Pakistan's ambassador in Saudi Arabia, commadore A. Hamid.

The Communique of the conference inter alic said, "They (Participating delegates) also expressed full support to sisterly Pakistan in its efforts to safeguard national unity and territorial integrity condemning any foreign interference in Pakistan's internal affairs."

General Hamid visits HQ, Flag Officer commanding EP.

General Abdul hamid Khan, Chief of Staff, Army visited the Headquarters of the flag officer commanding, East Pakistan, in Dacca yesterday Morning, reports APP.

General Hamid was accompanied by Lieutenant General A.A.K. Niazi, commander, Eastern command.

On arrival at the Headquarters General Hamid was received by Rear Admiral M. Shariff, Flag Officer commanding, Pakistan, who also took him around the headquarters and briefed him on the role of the Navy in East Pakistan.

While briefing the Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Shariff said that, apart from keeping the Chittagong and Chalna ports operational, the Navy had kept the life line of riverine transport functioning effectively between Chittagong, Dacca and other places.

Foreign TV coverage of E. Wing allowed

Rawalpindi, (APP)

The Government of Pakistan have decided to allow foreign television teams to visit East Pakistan for coverage, subject to the usual procedure, it was officially stated here today.

Foreign Press Correspondents have already been allowed to go to East Pakistan.

Qayyum urges Govt to reject consortium aid

Lahore, (APP)

The president of the Pakistan Muslim League, Khan Abdul Quayyum Khan, on wednesday urged the Pakistan Government to reject consortium aid and instead adopt a policy of self reliance.

Addressing a select gathering of students at function organised by the All Pakistan Students Federation at Park Luxury Hotel, He said that consortium had asked Pakistan to settle its internal affairs before the loan was grated.

He said the consortium demand of price amounted to interference in the internal affairs of Pakistan. This militates against sovereignty of the country and attacks the honour of the nation. No independent country could accept such a loan.

Italian bishops send donation for refugees

Rome (Reuter)

Italy's Roman Catholic Bishops have sent 30,000 dollars (12,500 sterling) to the Calcutta branch of the Roman Catholic Relief Organisation Caritas to help East Pakistan refuges, it was announced here yesterday.

At the same time Prime Minister Emilio Colombo was visited by Pakistan Ambassador Nawaz Khan; who delivered a personal message from president Yahya Khan.

Complete normalcy in Joypurhat

A 15-member subdivisional Peace Committee headed by Mr. Abbas Ali as been formed at Joypurhat in Bogra and by now almost all the union in the sub-division have similar committees; according to a press release of the Central Peace Committee in Dacca on Tuesday; reports APP.

Mr. Abdul Matin, a member of the Central Peace Committe, on this return here after a tour of different places in the sub-division, said the entire area was completely clear since April 26 of anti state elements and India infiltrators; who had committed extensive person in the villages.

Mr. Matin said the Peace Committees were fully co-operating with the army and the local authorities.

He said on arrival of our army personnel at Joypurhat on April 26, the Indian infiltrators and the anti state elements fled away and some of them were killed. Now complete normalcy was prevailing in these areas.

Indian defrauding East Pakistanis in Britain

Islamabad (APP)

The money being collected in the name of so-called 'Bangla Desh' from East Pakistani residents in Britain is going into the pockets of the so-called 'Bangla Desh' leaders; Hindus and Marwaries, according to reports reaching here.

A big part of these contributions is going into the Indian High Commission in London for the seported purchase of arms and equipment for the so-called Bangla Desh forces being trained by the Indians; the reports added.

The reports said that out of the money being taken by its London Mission; India would supply old and obsolete equipment no longer required by its own forces.

According to these reports: Contributions have consequently slowed down as East Pakistanis have come to realise that they are being defrauded of their money in the name of 'Bangla Desh' only to fatten the pockets of a few individuals.

Fishermen pledge support to Armed forces

Sylhet (APP)

Mr. Afazuddin Ahmed, Chairman East Pakistan Fishermen Community and Ex­president, Sylhet District Fishermen's Association, has pledged his community's unqualified support and co-operation to the Armed Forces to keep the integrity and solidarity of Pakistan.

In a statement he declared that lakhs of population of the fisherman community in Sylhet district stood like a rock against the Indian enemy and their stooges here.

Mr. Afazuddin Ahmed said that in spite of the fact that the members of this community are back word in education they were fired by patriotic zeal and one lakh jawans of the fishermen community would join the village parties to fight the menace of the Indian enemy and its agents.

Unprovoked Indian attack termed as undeclared war

Karachi (PPI)

Maulivi Farid Ahmed, Vice-president, PDP, said here on Wednesday night that unprovoked Indian attack on Pakistan territory amounted to an undeclared sooting war between the two countries and were meant to encourage subversive activities inside East Pakistan.

He said this while taking to PPI before his departure on Wednesday night of' our Damascus to attend the annual session of the Afro Asian people's solidarity conference as leader of the Pakistan delegation. Who may also visit some other Arab countries before returning to Pakistan.

Maulivi Farid Ahmed, who had returned to Dacca a day before after an extensive tour of the northern districts of East Pakistan said that in his tour of grave crisis the nation can hardly afford party politics and diffusion of energies in diverse and often contradictory channels.

Maulvi Farid Ahmed also criticised the Big Powers for mixing politics with economic aid. He said three powers should not be allowed to interfere in Pakistan's internal affairs by hanging the loans as the sword of damocles over our head.

Chandpur coordination Body meets

The reconstituted sub-divisional Co-ordination committee at a recent meeting here took stock of the local problems and decided on steps to restore them. The measures to improve efficiency in dealing with public affairs by the local administration was also discussed.

Qayyum opposes transfer of power now

Lahore, (APP)

President of Pakistan Muslim League Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan said here yesterday that transfer of power was out of question under the present circumstances. As far as sharing of power was concerned he was not opposed to it provided it was done simultaneously and also in identical manner in both wings, of the country, he added.

He was addresing a worker's meeting at the Sardar House here yesterday.

5-Party alliance in Baluchistan

The Pakistan People's Party jamiatul Ulema-i-islam (Hazarvi Group), Pakistan Muslim League (Qayyum Group), pashtoon Khawa National Awami Party, Baluchistan United Front and an independent member elected to the Baluchistan provincial Assembly have entered into on alliance for formation of a future Government in Baluchistan and co-operation in other spheres of national importance.

Acompromise formula for achieving objective was signed by Mr. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Chairman of PPP, Mir Rasul Bakhsh Khan Talpur, Mir Yousuf ali Khan Magri (MPA-elect) and Miraz Mohammad their on behalf of Pakistan People's Party and seven MPA-elected Baluchistan.

Districtive to tranship Cargo bound for E. Wing

Karachi (PPI)

The Government has ordered the National Shipping Corporation and all other Pakistani Shipping Companies to arrange immediate transhipment of cargo which was destined for East Pakistan but were off loaded on ports other than Chittagong.

Life returning to normal, says prince Sadruddin

United Nations, (Reuter)

The united Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Prince Sadruddin Agha Khan said Wednesday during his last Pakistan visit he flew over border area in Pakistan Army helicopter and was able to ask the pilot to change course frequently to visit area not on the programme.

The aircraft was 'hedgehoping' because of low cloud associated with the monsoon conditions, "I could see that people were cultivating their paddies. that markets were alive with people selling their wares and that in many parts we flew over, life was returning to normal', the High commissioner said.

He added, "I saw a number of villages, where houses had been burned, but at no time did I see any large concentrations of troops or large numbers of people moving any direction."

Although he was flying in a helicopter clearly marked "army" people looked up and waved as it passed. They did not scatter or hide, and children would come out the houses to wave, he added.
