Gen. Tikka presents Rs. 205.24 crore revenue budget for province

The East Pakistan Governor, Lieutenant General Tikka Khan, yesterday presented an
11.03 crore surplus revenue budget for the profince for 1971 -
Announcing the budget at the Governor's House in the presence of newsmen high military
and civil officials, the Governor put the revenue recept for 1971-
The budget seeks to raise an additional revenue through additional taxes which would not adversely affect the lower income groups.
Indian troops are reported to have increased deliberated provocations on the borders
of East Pakistan, reports APP. In two further note the Government of East Pakistan
is understood to have strongly protested to the Government of West Bengal against

The same day from 0315 to 0330 hours Indian troops fired upon Pakistan territory at Kazimpur with field guns and three inch mortar and againd from 0300 to 0350 hours they fired upon Pakistan territory at praypur in Kushtia district with machineguns and light machine guns.
On June 25 at 0430 hours they also fired nine rounds with three inch mortar at Kathulia.
Wile lodgeing strong protests against such unprovoked and indiscriminate firing upon Pakistan territory in flagrant violation of the ground rules, the Government of East Pakistan is learnt to have pointed out that Government of West Bengal did not seem to have done anything to stop such firing upon Pakistan territory in spite of repeated protests.
The West Bengal Government has also been suggested to hold immediate enquiry into these incidents and take necessary steps for stopping such provocative activities.
The Government of East Pakistan follow the procedure of the Central Government about the disbursement of the increment earned during the next financial year as an economy measure, the Provincial Finance Secretary, Mr. W.A. Khan said in Dacca yesterday, reports APP.
He told a press conference that he had already sent a message to the Central Government seeking details about the procedures for disburrement of the increment. The secretary made the observation when his attention was drawn to a defference in the disbursement of the increment between employees of Central Government and Provincial Governments. For the Central Government employees it has been decided that increment will be disbursed in defence, saving or to provident fund. it has been shown that it will be desbursed only in saving certificates.
The British Government refected a call made in parliament yesterday by a Labour opposition member "to recognise the state of Bangla Desh'.
Mr. Anthony Royle, Foreign and commonwealth under secretary, told the House of commons "there is no state of Bangla Desh which fulfils our normal criteria for recognition."

British Labour Party's Member of the parliament, Mr. Arthur Bottomley, said yesterday he had seen signs of improvement in the situation in some parts of East Pakistan. giving rise to the hope thath striff in the area might be overcome in the future. Mr. Bottomley, a former Labour party Minister arrive here late yesterday afternoon with three other British Members of Parliament from Dacca, the capital of Pakistan's Eastern's Wing.
In brief airport interviews, all four backbenchers agreed that fear had been one of the dominant impressions of their four day visit to East Pakistan.
The situation did seem to be improving in some areas they visited in East Pakistan, but there are still some frightened people.
While in West Bengal the parliamentarians will visit refugees camps in the border areas near Calcutta and also part of West Bengal to visit refugee centres there.
