Some of these areas are : (a) Kamalpur and Baramari in Mymensingh district : (b) Chatlapur in Sylhet district; (c) Kasba and area around Brahmanbaris: (d) Saldanadi, Harimangal, Nayanpur and Barajali in Comilla district: (e) Jamalpur and Mohammadpur in Jessore district: (f) Uthah. and Darshana in Jhenida area of Kushtia district ;(g) Hilli area in Dinajpur district and (h) Panchhagarh up in the north in Rangpur-Dinajpur area.

The spokesman said loss of a few thousand yards did not mean anything. "The morale of our troops as of civilians, it extremely high. We have not only halted but given a bloodly, nose to the Indians.

Asked whether the Indians used two divisions in the offensive against East Pakistan yesterday, he said two divisions were physically involved and the Indians pushed this much of troops between Nov. 27 and 28.

Replying to a question about the strategic importance of the loss of Jibannagar, he said, "We are in the realm of tactics, strategy apart."

He said Jibannagar is five miles within Pakistan territory but in view of the strength of the enemy troops and numerical inferiority of Pakistani troops the loss was insignificant.

"In a particular area a defensible terrain is defended properly whereas a comparatively less defendable ground is given. This is strategy." The loss of Jibannagar, according to the spokesman, was in the same category as that of Chaugacha.

Questioned whether loss of Jibannagar held threat to Jessore, he said threat was there "But not alarming."

Asked about the situation on West Pakistan border, the spokesman said it remained as before and there as no report of any incident.

Asked whether the Indian High Commissioner, Mr. J. K. Atal, had any meeting with President Yahya ,Khan, the official spokesman said the High Commissioner had only called on the Foreign Secretary on Saturday last But he did not rule out the possibility of Mr. Atal calling on the President.

About the possibility of taking the issue of Indian aggression to the Security Council, he said as for keeping the United Nations informed about the matter it was being done.

To request for a Security Council required certain approached to be made and examination of all implications. "We have drawn the attention of major powers to the threat to peace. There are certain moves afoot in that direction."

The spokesman referred to the Belgian move for a Security Council meeting on the matter and said reports were that India was not going to respond.

He said going to the Security Council was not like rushing to police station to report theft. It was a more complex matter.

Some of the great powers, he said, were known to hold certain views and they were consulting each other. However, he said, if the situation became worse the possibility of a Security Council meeting could not be ruled out, for which initiative could also come from the UN secretary General the Council President or a great power.

In reply to a question he said it would be wrong to assume in the Pakistan was concentrating on China because of its being in the security Council, adding that Pakistan was in consultation with all great powers, Diplomatic moves were going on a "very intensified level." he said.

He referred to President Yahya Khan's communications to leaders of major countries and said Pakistani diplomatic representatives were keeping Governments of countries of the accredition fully informed.
