Indira's threat against Pakistan, a dangerous challenge to peace

Mr. Abdul Mottalib Akhand and Mr. Ruhul Amin Khan, president and senior vice president of Pakistan Muslim Students League respectively said here yesterday that the recent unprovoked threat against Pakistan by Mrs. Indira Gandhi was a dangerous challenge to the peace of this sub-continent and of the whole of the Asian countries, reports APP.

In a joint press statement they said that if India attacks Pakistan again, Pakistani Mussalmans would shed their last drop of blood to safeguard every inch of the sacred soil of Pakistan. Twelve crore Pakistan is and their heroic army would frustrate any attempt of disintegrating Pakistan by India, they declared.

They said, "India in her traditional way had been making repeated attempts to undo Pakistan since its very inception. But her every attempt has been foiled and frustrated. Being defeated by heroic and patriotic army of Pakistan the imperialist India made a planned conspiracy to disintegrate Pakistan by supplying arms to the seccessonists of East Pakistan and by sending her infiltrators to the soil of East Pakistan.

But when our brave army and patriotic people foiled the evil design of India and exposed the secessionist movement of East Pakistan India once again made preparation to come to arms confrontation with Pakistan again and put her army on the border of East Pakistan. India should realise that Mussalmans would never think of welcoming India in their internal affairs, not to speak of cherishing Indian sinister design of dominating the Mussalmans in the name of emancipation. She should note that heroic army will frustrate any attempt of disintegrating Pakistan again and Pakistani Mussalmans will shed their last drop of blood to safeguard every inch of the soil Pakistan.

We want to remind India that Pakistan has come to stay and Insha-Allah, it will stay for ever as ideal Muslim state in the world."

Complete normalcy prevailing all over Magura

Magura, May 31(UPP)

Complete normalcy is prevailing all over Magura subdivision. People have been attending to their avocations of live as usual. The miscreants who earlier attempted to disrupt the society have been routed by the law abiding citizens.

The prominent people of the subdivision met at a meeting early this month and set up a peace committee with the former senior Deputy Speaker of the East Pakistan Assembly Mr. Masihul Azam Khan as convener and Syed Obaidullah as Secretary-General of the committee.

In a brief speech Mr. Masihul Azam Khan stressed the urgent need for maintaining law and order in the larger interest of the nation. He also strongly condemned the nefarious designs of the Indian Government who have attempt to disrupt and disintegrate Pakistan's economy and unity to achieve their selfish ends.

Mr. Khan called upon the people to stand united and foil evil designs of the enemies of Islam and Pakistan.

Back Home (Editorial Column)

Following president Yahya Khan's appeal to Pakistanis who were forced by circumstances to seek shelter in neighbouring areas to return home and follow their legitimate vocations many have already come back and many more, we believe, will soon return to their villages. Of course, only bonafide Pakistanis will be allowed entry. Unless a check is imposed the homeless and destitute in West Bengal may enter East Pakistan in very large numbers. However, this check will be routine for bonafide Pakistanis, who have nothing to fear. In fact, the Government is setting up a number of reception camps at different places to facilitate the return of Pakistanis who had gone to India during the recent disturbances. With a view to making the return of Pakistanis to their houses easier, these camps, which are of all the important routes from India into Pakistan, will receive the returning Pakistanis and provide them relief. Pakistani's attitude provided sharp contrast to that of India, who has pushed out lakhs of Muslims into Pakistan, and done nothing to take them back. Miscreants and others who are guilty of heinous crimes may try to slip in, but we believe that would be caught and the people themselves will come forward to identify them.

Returning Pakistanis bring tales of what is happening on the Indian side of the border. What they tell comes as no surprise. They are agreed that the 'Bangladesh' movement is 'dead'. In fact, this Indian child was gasping for breath from the beginning. Even artificial respiration and huge doses of medicine have not been able to keep it alive. Many of those claiming to be members of the so-called 'Government' do not carry any conviction of purpose. They have their ideological and personal differences and some of them are openly contemptuous of each other and are riot even on speaking terms. On top of this, they have to bear insults and affronts from the Indian authorities, who allowed to operate the funds that they had taken away with them. India has used the highly exaggerated figures of Pakistani Refugees to get aid from foreign countries and international agencies, but those who were misled by Indian propaganda have received such a raw deal that they are terribly bitter. Indian works may be beguiling, but she does not practice what she preaches.

The Dacca-Rajshahi tele-line resumed in due course and the town post offices have been performing their functions regularly.

Power supply had been restored long before and attendance in Government and semi Government offices has remarkably improved.

Agricultural prospects are too promising in the district and the farmers are carrying on their normal agricultural activities. The jute plants at places had grown up and looked very bright and promising, the early rains had by and large helped these crops favourably. In some of the fields the farmers are busy with weeding and giving final touches to the field preparations for the next sowing as well.
